The first part of the book helps us understand the importance of exile in living as Christians specifically in America. If we will lean on the leading of God for those in exile it will help us tremendously. Then, in the second part of the book he lays out five spiritual disciplines that will help us not fit into the culture without even thinking about it. Some of the stuff that his church at Imago Dei in Portland, Oregon are doing to be salt and light is an inspiration.
